The plans for a €5 million Islamic centre are being considered by Kilkenny county council

Objections to a planning application for a mosque in Kilkenny included letters from Kildare, Tipperary and the United Kingdom.

A couple in Athy, Co Kildare, lodged an objection to the construction of an Islamic centre in Kilkenny on the grounds of “excessive traffic” and “noise pollution to neighbouring houses” despite living 68km away. They also said that “the quality of life will be severely impacted to people living near by”.
