Galway Bay fm newsroom – German retailer Lidl has appealed a decision to restrict its delivery times at its base in Tullyvoheen, Clifden.

The supermarket giant was granted approval to extend its delivery schedule late last year with one condition attached.

County planners stated loading and unloading would be limited to between 8am and 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 10.30am and 7pm on Sundays.

In a first party appeal to An Bord Pleanála, Lidl Ireland says the condition attached by county planners effectively results in the permission being of no material benefit.

It has requested that it be modified to request the originally requested schedule sought from 7am to 11pm daily.

The grounds of the appeal argue that the existing and conditioned delivery time limits are logistically unworkable.

The appeal adds that noise associated with deliveries has been significantly mitigated in recent years.

An Bord Pleanála is due to make a decision in May (03/05).
